The Umatilla County Outreach, Prevention, and Education (U-COPE) project, funded by a grant to Oregon Health Authority from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, uses a collaborative leadership approach to develop a coordinated rural bundle of services for people who use drugs.
Mission
Develop a collaborative team of local partners, including people who use drugs, to coordinate and implement a comprehensive package of interventions using a harm reduction framework to improve healthcare access and outcomes for people who use drugs in Umatilla County, Oregon.
Vision
To support the whole health and wellbeing of people who use drugs across the recovery continuum through increased access to preventive and collaborative care, testing and treatment for hepatitis C and HIV, harm reduction services, immunization, and cross-service sector collaboration, and increased availability of provider and community education about substance use and substance use disorder.
Health Equity Statement
We aim to promote health equity by addressing stigma experienced by people who use drugs and reducing disparities in healthcare access and outcomes for people who use drugs regardless of the type of substance they use, socio-economic status, race or ethnicity, gender or identity, sexual orientation, rurality, or other differences.
